Psychotherapy Supervision Group ~with a focus on Loss and Longing

Facilitated by Jason Winkler, RP
Virtual via Zoom

Six weekly Tuesday mornings, 10:00–11:45 am ET
May 21 to June 25  2024

This group is for Registered Psychotherapists (Qualifying and RP) and other psychotherapy providers to share client work in a process-oriented supervision group with peers around themes of loss and longing.

Why this particular focus? Loss is pervasive, an essential ingredient of life. Existing in states of longing (for what was, could have been, could never be, could still be) becomes part of the everyday, in response to loss. It is woven all through our clients’ experiences and narratives if we listen closely. The losses and longings of others can deeply stir our own that we hold as therapists and as humans. The topic feels worthy of its own focus in a supervision group.

The group will review a small amount of material throughout the six weeks (a couple of articles, a podcast, a video – for instance) to help give context to some of our discussions.

Areas the group may want to explore together within the case presentation format:

*The different kinds of losses that clients are experiencing
*How longing is expressed by our clients and what it means, how it can be optimally met and worked with
*Co-/countertransference dynamics in the client relationship related to loss and longing, i.e. losses of the therapist that are co-mingling with the clients’
*Loss and longing between client and therapist

My primary theoretical lenses are relational, existential and modern analytic but input from multiple perspectives are welcome. My groups are always rooted in emotional processing, as what the therapist feels is of utmost importance. The conversation will have a case presentation structure but will be creative and reflective within that (a left- and right-brain hemispheric balance!).

I hope to establish an engaging, nurturing and supportive atmosphere in which the group members can all be in deeper touch with the rhythms of loss and longing in their practices and in themselves-in-relation to their clients.

Please connect with me to talk more about this if you are interested and/or have questions. If we have not worked together before, please reach out before registering so that we can arrange a short online call together.
